European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture (EFITA) is an autonomous, non-political, non-profit making Association (Statutes 1.2).

It is the co-ordinating body of its National Member Organisations (NMOs) (Statutes 2.1).

EFITA is the leading edge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) developments and the application of ICT in agriculture (Statutes 2.2).

Its mission is to facilitate the exchange of information and experience, the development of knowledge in the area of ICT in agriculture in order to enhance the competitiveness of Europe and to promote the awareness of ICT in agriculture. (Statutes 2.3).

Dear Colleagues,

I welcome you to the supplementary portal http://www.efita.eu, devoted to current Research, Educational and Development (RED) activities of EFITA. Our new portal is going to appear next year and should be a joint venture from Mr. Waksman and the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET). The official site (http://www.efita.net) remains our source of communication thanks to continuous and voluntary efforts of Mr. Waksman. All news, events and material will be continuously updated thanks to him.

Nevertheless, the appearance of the new supplementary portal aiming to disseminate RED activities is necessary as a backup and complementary service to our members. For example, a new M.Sc. course proposed by our members and starting next October and the first Research School to be organized and accept candidates from the beginning of the new academic year cannot wait. Similar urgent announcements regarding RED initiatives are welcome and will be immediately published.
